Martina Quiere Bailar i which started out in Madrid in 2010. With a strong influence from Central European folk music, Martina Quiere Bailar finds their roots in the rhythms of the traditional music of Spain, France and other neighbouring countries. Dance is an important element in their compositions so their concert places become large dance halls.

CONTEST: LE MATRIOSKE (ITALY)

South Italy dances / Bal Folk

Le Matrioske quartet plays some of the most interesting music and dances of South Italy and European Balfolk for traditional dances. The band created a fascinating formula between “Balfolk” and “Festa a ballu” for their show: new versions of traditional dancing songs, coming both from South Italy and the rest of Europe, moreover original compositions. Their music is deeply rooted in Sicily and faithful to the dance steps but looks to the rest of Europe and mixes styles, according to a conscious research and puts the spotlight on the vitality in each dance.

Stage:

They will offer us an interesting stage of Bal folk mixed with dances from the South of Italy.

CONTEST: STRING FLING (PORTUGAL)

Portuguese dances / Bal Folk

String Fling is a guitar duet, Pedro Prata and David Rodrigues, which comes up from the complicity in the jam sessions after the folk dancing in Lisboa. This is a project with the intention of bringing a smile, giving good energy and the joy of dancing.

Stage:

String Fling will offer to the participants bal folk dances as: Chapelloise, Misirlu, An dro, Hanter dro, Koast ar c’hoat…as well as some Portuguese dances like Rapasseado, Vira, or Fado batido.

GEMA RIZO

Stage de Danzas Castigliane

Gema Rizo es pedagoga y especialista en danza tradicional y medieval. Su trabajo cubre una parcela imprescindible tanto en el mundo de la pedagogía como en el de la investigación etnográfica e histórica. A lo largo de estos años ha sabido unir ambas disciplinas en cursos, conferencias, exposiciones y Stagees, demostrando que la convivencia comparada entre estas materias es de una utilidad incuestionable. En el Stage de danzas castellanas de Gema Rizo, se desarrollarán diferentes modalidades de baile de la cultura tradicional castellana, atendiendo a las diferencias culturales en las distintas comunidades de la geografía de esta tierra. Para una mayor comprensión del baile, se tratan también temas como el atuendo, la música, los instrumentos y la cultura tradicional.

Comenzando como acordeonista apasionado en los bailes también me interesé por la composición desde muy temprano. Se trata de una elaboración minuciosa que le da a cada tema su cuerpo, su universo propio. El acordeón diatónico y sus pulsaciones; es un instrumento que ofrece ricos escollos para quien busca hacerle cantar a la Luna. Sus arrecifes son como olas sobre las que es agradable tocar y apoyarse para hacer de él buen uso...

Raphaël Maillet

Stage of Violin

Raphaël Maillet es titulado por los Conservatorios de Avignon y de Montpellier y licenciado en musicología. Toca regularmente en formaciones orquestales (entre ellas la Orquesta de Cataluña) y es profesor de violín en el marco de festivales y cursos internacionales. Sin renunciar a su herencia clásica también toca el "fiddle" - el violín sin pajarita- y participa en formaciones de Bluegrass y de Oldtime (folklore americano), de Country, de música irlandesa, quebequense, corsa, rumana, jazz, rock, bailes traducionales, tango, además de grabar numerosos discos. Su mayor influencia es Gilles Apap, solista internacional en el que se inspira para obtener una verdadera filosofía del violín. También trabaja el "arte escénico" en varias compañías de teatro y de danza y destila talento en Accordzéâm.

Son estilos el son, la jota, la seguidilla, el fandango, etc... No son canciones encorsetadas con letras, melodías fijas y sus bailes asociados. Son emocionantes y sorprendentes en cada nota, cada paso, cada frase. Esta manera de hacer y vivir nuestra música guardada y mantenida por nuestros antepasados ha vuelto a ocupar su lugar. Ven y vuelve a sentir que estas viejas y nuevas formas de hacer música nos dicen y nos atrapan.
